Ron Korn, MD, PhD
Founder and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Korn is one of our most recognized board-certified and fellowship-trained radiologists. A scientist at the core, he completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Molecular Biology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which provided a solid foundation for his Medical training at Stanford School of Medicine followed by post graduate training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Korn specializes in Nuclear Medicine and Cancer Biology with extensive involvement in clinical research as both a study investigator and clinical publication author that has afforded him in-depth knowledge of the common pitfalls and complex challenges associated with clinical trials. Dr. Korn has received public recognition and awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Radiology Imaging Network, Ibis Foundation of Arizona, and received the Top Doctor Award for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Though his professional accolades accurately reflect his clinical excellence, his current professional associations, education based activities and commitment to clinical research quality make up the core of this professional. As Imaging Endpoints' Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Korn provides the medical perspective, oversight and leadership that is critical to the services we provide.

Doug Dean Burkett, PhD
Chief Executive Officer and President

Doug has launched, led and grown publically traded pharmaceutical and biotech companies and brings a wealth of business experience to our team. His experience in drug and device development, global clinical trials, and contract research services enables us to provide our clients a customized service-level that is unparalleled in the industry. Prior to joining Imaging Endpoints, Dr. Burkett cofounded Champions Oncology, Inc. [OTCBB: CSBR] and as CEO/President he established a drug development business, a novel personalized oncology business and the first patient-derived xenograft CRO business that has attracted nine of the top ten pharmaceutical and biotech companies as customers. Prior to Champions Oncology, Dr. Burkett was Chairman, CEO and President of Zila Inc. [NASDAQ: ZILA] where he was inventor in six patents for early detection of squamous cell cancer, led a successful effort to obtain FDA approval of the world's first oral cancer screening product and repositioned Zila as a growth leader in the professional oral care marketplace. Doug started his career by obtaining a PhD in Chemistry from the Cancer Research Institute at Arizona State University where he developed and tested anticancer drugs in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute.

Manny Ramirez, RAC
Sr. VP Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

Manny brings years of established experience in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industries to his role as the Sr. VP of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. Adept at leading management teams in implementing quality systems and formulating regulatory strategy, his most recent role was as Sr. Quality and Compliance Director at Cardinal Healthcare, where he was responsible for quality and regulatory requirements for advance molecular imaging products, overseeing 37 facilities and managing pre-commercial and commercial quality/compliance projects. Prior to this role he was the QA/RA leader at GE Healthcare, where he managed the Quality Management System for new product introductions. Over a six-year period Manny also held increasingly responsible positions at Zila, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZILA) where he ultimately served as Vice President of Compliance and was responsible for management of the corporate quality systems for drug products, API and medical devices. Manny received a MBA in Business Management and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Arizona.

Jatinder Kaur, MS
Vice President, Imaging Operations

Jatinder heads the Operations team of Imaging Endpoints and brings with her years of operational and technical expertise. Prior to joining Imaging Endpoints, Jatinder was the Vice President of Imaging Operations for Intrinsic Imaging and was responsible for managing and overseeing all operational activities for multi-site Phase I-IV trials for different therapeutic areas. Prior to that, Jatinder worked for over 8 years with Perceptive Informatics Medical Imaging, a division of PAREXEL, one of the world's largest CROs. During her tenure at PAREXEL, Jatinder held various senior technology and management positions within the medical imaging department. Jatinder has extensive experience in developing, managing and delivering advanced medical imaging technologies for clinical trials and has successfully led several clinical trials for therapeutic areas including Oncology, Neurology, Musculoskeletal and Cardiology. Jatinder holds a Bachelors and a Masters in Computer Science and also holds a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from Boston University.

Candace Friend Shelton, MS, CCRA, CCDM
Vice President of Data Management

Candace brings over 26 years of extensive experience in clinical research across numerous therapeutic areas and all phases of clinical trials.  Candace is a published author and recognized innovative industry expert in clinical data management and clinical operations.  She is a Certified Clinical Data Manager (CCDM) and a Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA).  Prior to joining Imaging Endpoints, Candace held various leadership positions as VP of Clinical Operations and VP Compliance at Sanguine Biosciences, Director Clinical Monitoring Services and Director Data Sciences at Celerion, Director Clinical Outreach at International Genomics Consortium (TCGA – The Cancer Genome Atlas), Head BHOPS Data Management at Genentech, Director Clinical Operations at Semafore Pharmaceuticals, and 17 years at Eli Lilly and Company at various positions including Chorus Data Management. Candace holds a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in Psychology and Master of Science from Arizona State University in Clinical Research Management Regulatory Science.

Catherine Mulvaney
Senior Director, Medical and Scientific Affairs

Catherine is the Senior Director, Medical and Scientific Affairs at Imaging Endpoints and brings with her over 16 years of clinical trial management experience.  She has extensive experience in technical project management, requirements analysis, data modeling, electronic CRF design, and data export design. Prior to joining Imaging Endpoints, Catherine spent 15 years at PAREXEL (formerly Perceptive Informatics) where she was the Associate Director of Engineering in the Medical Imaging Production Services group. Catherine supported the scientific and medical teams of a vast array of pharmaceutical clients with regards to study specific technology needs across the full range of deliverables.  Catherine is also engaged in industry-wide efforts for clinical data standardization (CDISC). She is a contributing member of the CDISC Submissions Data Standards (SDS) Oncology sub-team, CFAST Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, and Colorectal Cancer therapeutic area teams.

Caroline E. DeStefano, Esq.
Director, Business Proposals and Contracts

Caroline is an experienced proposal manager and attorney. Before joining Imaging Endpoints, she worked in proposal management at Philips Healthcare where she was responsible for leading the sales and business development teams through the proposal process, and managed complex deals of up to 43 million.  Caroline began her career as a regulatory attorney where she was tasked with writing bulletins and regulations to help industry understand new and complex laws. She has worked as legal counsel for a GE subsidiary and start-up companies advising on contract negotiations and customer-facing language for business proposals and marketing programs. Caroline has a passion for simplifying complex issues and creating language that is easy to understand as well as compliant. She is known for merging proposal writing and legal language to help deals move forward fairly, efficiently, and to the satisfaction of all parties involved. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School.

Ashley Bonica Ferreira, RN, BSN
Director, Medical and Scientific Affairs

Ashley has a strong background in clinical research with over 13 years of experience implementing imaging into clinical trial designs. Ashley’s career includes both operational and scientific roles, including 4 years participating in and managing teams that perform quality control of imaging and over 9 years as a medical writing providing scientific study oversight. Her vast experience gives her a solid understanding of the role imaging plays in each aspect of a clinical trial’s lifecycle from scan receipt and QC through export and data analysis. Ashley worked at PAREXEL for 11 years and during this time gathered clinical experience by completing her nursing degree in the Boston area and working part time for 2 years at Pediatric Associates of Wellesley. Ashley holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stonehill College and is a registered nurse in the state of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Simmons College.

David J. Marichal, R.T.(R)(CT)(MR), CIIP
VP, Innovation & Technology

David is charged with spearheading Imaging Endpoints’ Imaging Informatics and Information Technology initiatives through a combination of best practices and innovative thinking. Before joining the Imaging Endpoints team, David served for 13 years as Chief Technology Officer for Radiology & Imaging Specialists (RIS), a large radiology practice based in Lakeland, FL. In his tenure there, he introduced new technologies that streamlined operational efficiency, reduced costs, enhanced revenues and, most importantly, improved patient care. He created an enterprise imaging network spanning the west coast to the east coast, connecting multiple hospitals, clinics and imaging centers and served as a technology consultant and leader to various partners and stakeholders in those facilities. David graduated from Lakeland Regional Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology and is currently a candidate for an Advanced Technology Degree with a concentration in Health Informatics at Florida Polytechnic University.

Sanjay Kakkad, BS, MBA
Director, Imaging Operations

Sanjay brings over 16 years of Imaging Core Lab experience from PAREXEL. He began his career in the research and processing of radiological data. Over the years, he has held several positions within the organization including Project Management and most recently Associate Director, Global Operations. Sanjay has successfully managed several global groups and was directly involved as company expansion took place to include additional core lab locations. In his most recent position, Sanjay was focused on providing direction and oversight to team leaders and supervisors to ensure project teams were supported, and the interaction between Imaging Operations and Project Management remained well founded. In addition, Sanjay was involved with providing guidance and insight from an operational perspective across many of the technical and supporting groups within the organization. Sanjay joined Imaging Endpoints to leverage his experience in the iCRO industry by continuing to build strong performing teams while working to achieve operational excellence. Sanjay has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Keene State College and a Masters of Business Administration from Daniel Webster College. 

Greta Nye, BS
Director, Clinical Research Operations

Greta brings several years of scientific background and management experience to clinical research. She carries the skills and knowledge of the fast-paced clinical research world bringing her talent to the operations team at Imaging Endpoints. Holding several leadership roles, Greta has successfully managed, both operationally and financially, many worldwide projects from IND submission through closeout; leading to successful project completion. Throughout her career, she has successfully managed hundreds of projects and has been recognized for exceptional deliverables. She spent several years working hands-on with patient care and management of clinical research trials at a large clinical research organization.  With a passion for the field, Greta began her career in Boston working with early drug development companies.  Her focus was on immunologic and oncologic disease research that specialized in antibody drug discovery.  Greta has a strong scientific background with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. 

Carlos Pineda, MA
Director, Quality Management System

Carlos brings twenty-three years of Quality experience in various manufacturing industries, including seven years in medical device and pharmaceuticals Quality Assurance, to Imaging Endpoints in his role as Director of Quality Management System. Skilled in the creation, implementation and maintenance of quality management systems, his most recent function was as the Clinical Products Team Quality Manager at Cardinal Healthcare. In that position he was involved in the technology transfer of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Drug sponsored products from IND to full cGMP commercial production at numerous facilities across North America. Prior to his role with Cardinal Healthcare, Carlos was the Quality Assurance Manager at Zila, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZILA). Other accomplishments include development and deployment of ISO-9001 compliant quality systems for both Flexpak Corporation (medical device packaging) and Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals (Rare Earth based high temperature magnet alloy manufacturing). Carlos received a Master of Arts in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Arizona and his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Arizona State University.
