COVID-19 AI-Based Analysis
There is an urgent need to increase global knowledge in COVID-19’s mechanisms of infection, lung parenchyma damage distribution and associated patterns, not only for disease detection or to complement the diagnosis, but also to support the design of curative therapies.
AI-based medical image analyses may enhance computed tomography (CT) in the diagnosis of COVID-19 by using a deep learning model for automated detection and classification of COVID-19 on CT scans, and for assessing disease severity in patients by quantification of lung involvement.
The AI analysis shown above evaluates characteristics of COVID-19 such as ground glass opacity lesions in the peripheral and posterior lungs on CT images using AI algorithms to provide an index score for consistency with COVID-19. The analysis is completely automated and is being developed to provide additional information to the diagnosis of COVID-19.
